Upon arrival, pick up your rental vehicle and drive to your lovely boutique guesthouse in the center of Windhoek. Enjoy the diverse experiences on offer in Namibia’s capital.
Windhoek (Day 1)
1 Night En-Suite Standard Room, Bed & Breakfast
Upon arrival at Windhoek Airport, you will collect your rental vehicle and depart for Olive Grove Guesthouse.
The afternoon is yours to explore Namibia’s capital city, meet friendly locals, or visit the iconic Joe’s Beerhouse for a scrumptious meal and an ice-cold beer (optional).
For those interested in the history of Namibia, visit the Freedom Museum and Christos Kirche in the heart of the city. If you are cooking your own meals, this is a good time to stock up on basic supplies for the first few days.
Kalahari (Day 2)
1 Night En-Suite Chalet, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast & Activities.
On day two, travel from Windhoek partly through the Kalahari to Bagatelle Game Ranch for an unforgettable stay. This will be your only opportunity to witness the iconic red sand dunes of the Kalahari in the east, which differ completely from the sand dunes at Sossusvlei or in the Namib Desert.
Located on the edge of the southern Kalahari in the mixed tree and shrub savannah, the lodge is crisscrossed by huge red sand dunes. They place significant emphasis on conserving nature and its biodiversity, allowing you to encounter a diverse array of animal and plant species up close.
Book yourself an afternoon sunset game drive to see the protected rhino and the exciting cheetah project, all while enjoying a glass of wine on the red sand dunes. Let the authentic Bushmen introduce you to their ancient traditions in a guided Bushman San experience, a short walk in the red sand.
All adventures can be pre-booked through our office.
Sossusvlei (Day 3&4)
2 Nights En-Suite Standard Room, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast & Activities.
After breakfast on day three, you will drive from Bagatelle to Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert. At the lodge, breakfast and dinners are included.
You will stay overnight in the Sossusvlei area for the next two evenings, giving you time to explore some of the highest sand dunes in the world. The incredible geographical formations in the region, such as Sesriem Canyon, will blow you away!
On day four, while the temperature is still mild and the dune contrasts are at their best, you will head out into the Namib Desert with your guide. View the most photographed dunes, Dune 45 and Elim Dune, go on a 2.6 km guided round-trip walk to Dead Vlei, or climb the upper ridge of the highest dune, Big Daddy, before returning to your lodge.
Other optional activities you could enjoy on this day include:
A nature drive to spot desert-adapted wildlife
An Eco-sensitive guided quad bike excursion
Sand-boarding and horse riding
A balloon ride over the Namib.
Swakopmund (Day 5&6)
2 Nights En-Suite Standard Room, Bed & Breakfast & Activities.
On day five, depart the Namib Desert and drive north through canyons and striking scenery en route to Swakopmund on the Skeleton Coast. Swakopmund is a former colonial town known for its German architecture and culture. This drive offers some of the best geological and geographic sights in the world and showcases the diversity of Namibia. Do not drive too fast on the gravel roads; take in the clear air and beautiful, incomparable views. Stop at the deep river valleys and see how the landscape changes. Visit Walvis Bay to see flamingos.
Day six will be spent exploring Swakopmund and its surroundings. Included is the fascinating Living Desert Tour, where you’ll learn about the geology, structure, and formation of the desert, and admire the vast and beautiful landscapes while enjoying a scenic dune drive. Also included is an exhilarating quad bike tour of the Namib sand dunes.
Enjoy a variety of local and upscale restaurants in Swakopmund for delicious lunches and dinners.
Twyfelfontein / Damaraland (Day 7&8)
2 Nights En-Suite Standard Permanent Tent, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast & Activities.
Resume your Namibian road trip and drive further north up the Skeleton Coast to Damaraland.
En route, we recommend stopping north of Henties Bay to see the largest Cape Cross seal colony and visit the shipwreck of MS Winston at Durissa Bay before turning inland to Twyfelfontein. Along the way, stop at the Petrified Forest and Damara Living Museum. The Burnt Mountain with volcanic organ pipes in basalt rock is another astonishing sight. Twyfelfontein Rock Art is something to behold, taking you back thousands of years. This area is, in a nutshell, the nucleus of the start of the breakup of Gondwanaland.
On arrival at Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp, settle into your accommodation and spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, or if you prefer, take a walk in the surrounding area and marvel at the beautiful rocky Damaraland landscape.
The scenic guided Huab River drive explores the roaming area of Namibia’s desert-adapted elephants. These elephants are not a different species but have adapted to survive in this dry, harsh land. Unlike their forest counterparts, they do not demolish trees, understanding their scarcity and using them for shade in the scorching sun.
Unfortunately, only a small number of these adapted elephants remain in their natural habitat, making this drive a must-do! Guides track elephants from sandy riverbed tracks, ensuring encounters. Valued by local Damaras for tourism, these elephants are no longer poached. Drinking spots for local goat herds now provide backup water sources.
This adventure is a must for any traveler, offering a unique and highly recommended experience.
Etosha – Okaukuejo Resort (Day 9)
1 Night En-Suite Standard Room, Bed & Breakfast & Activities.
Today’s drive takes you via Kamanjab to the only authentic Himba village at Okandera. From there, the road continues to Etosha National Park, where you can enjoy a leisurely first game drive on the way to Okaukuejo rest camp. The floodlit waterhole attracts an array of animals that come to drink throughout the night.
Take your time driving out, visiting the many different waterholes such as Halali and Okondeka, where large herds of wildlife gather. Almost a quarter of Etosha consists of a large salt pan known as the Etosha Pan, the park’s most distinctive and dramatic feature. Take a short walk on the pan and snap some fun pictures.
The Etosha Pan is the only known mass breeding ground for flamingos in Namibia, and if you’re lucky, you might see up to a million flamingos at certain times.
Optional activities that can be pre-booked through our office include:
– Guided game drives.
Etosha – Namutoni Resort (Day 10)
1 Night En-Suite Standard Room, Bed & Breakfast.
On day ten, you will travel to Namutoni Resort for your second day in Etosha National Park. Namutoni Resort is one of Namibia Wildlife Resorts’ popular properties.
The drive to Namutoni is dusty but can deliver beautiful animal sightings. Stop at Halali Rest camp for lunch.
The main building is an old fort built in 1897, during the German war and towers over Etosha. This fort provides some of the best sunset views in Etosha National Park. Enjoy another floodlit waterhole with a glass of wine in hand.
Enjoy self-drive game drives or inquire about costs for guided game drives within the National Park.
Bed and Breakfast is included in your stay here.
Okonjima Plains Camp (Day 11)
1 Night En-Suite Standard Room, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast & Activities.
Today, you will travel to Okonjima Private Nature Reserve and stay at Okonjima Plains Camp.
Plains Camp is located 700m from the airstrip in the secluded wilderness area of Okonjima Nature Reserve, offering majestic sunset views. Its design honors the Hanssen family’s cattle-farming history with a three-tier accommodation facility: 10 large View Rooms, 14 spacious Classic Rooms, and six affordable Garden Rooms. The camp is family-friendly and wheelchair accessible.
Included in your stay is the opportunity to enjoy the Okonjima AfriCat Carnivore Care experience. If you missed seeing cats during your tour, you can observe them in a more enclosed and safe environment.
Depart Windhoek (Day 12)
On day ten, following a hearty breakfast, you'll embark on the final leg of your journey, departing for Windhoek Airport. Take in the last scenic views of Namibia as you drive, cherishing the memories of your adventure. Upon arrival at the airport, return your rental vehicle and proceed with checking in for your flight home or the next destination on your tour. Reflect on the diverse landscapes and remarkable wildlife encounters that have made your trip so special.
