Garden Route Tour12 Days/11 nights on a Cape Town, Garden Route, Cape Town circular tour
Day 1, 2 and 3 - Cape TownArrive at Cape Town International Airport for your vacation in South Africa and collect your pre-booked car. At the same time collect your Garden Route tour package which will guide you every step of the way, starting right now with a map and directions to your first hotel or guest house establishment.
Included in your tour package will be your Travel Manual with suggestions of what to do and where to go on your holiday in South Africa..
Day 4 Hermanus – 140 kmA beautiful scenic coastal drive brings you to Hermanus - one of the best land-based whale watching destinations in the world during the months July to October. You need not even go out to sea by boat, the whales come right up to the cliffs where concrete paths help you to get as close to them as possible.
See Travel Manual for things to do and places to go.
Day 5, 6 and 7 - Knysna – 400 kmFollow the highway to Knysna, centre of the Garden Route. From here you can explore the Garden Route in all directions, including Plettenberg Bay. Many activities to partake in from beaches, hikes and lagoon activities to animal activities such as walking with monkeys in the forest to stroking and feeding elephants.
Day 8 - Tsitsikamma – 100 kmDrive eastwards to the Stormsriver Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park, staying in national park chalets. This is not a game park, but a nature park with unsurpassed natural beauty, poised between a craggy shoreline of black rocks pounded by foamy white surf and steep forested cliffs. The Treetop Canopy Tour is a must!
This is where your circular tour turns around.
Day 9 - Wilderness – 140 kmSkimming past the now familiar towns of Plettenberg Bay and Knysna on your return trip, you now stop off at Wilderness where you can enjoy the beach, some forest walks or canoe along the river.
Day 10 Oudtshoorn – 65 kmYou have only a short drive to Oudtshoorn over the beautiful Outeniqua Pass, where you have enough time to visit the magnificent Cango Caves, an ostrich show farm and perhaps the Cango Wildlife Ranch
Day 11 and 12 Stellenbosch – 400 kmInstead of driving back to Cape Town on the N2 highway, we suggest you use the scenic Route 62, savouring the Little Karoo which has a beauty of its own. Gradually you move into mountain country and eventually arrive in the Winelands where you will overnight in Stellenbosch. Enjoy wine tasting and/or meals at some of the wine estates.
