KwaZulu-Natal

Durban is the gateway city of KwaZulu-Natal - pulsating and inviting fusion of East, West and Zulu motifs overlooking Africa's busiest picture-postcard seaport. It has expansive golden beaches interspersed with idyllic getaway coves. Explore the distinctly different northern and southern Kwa-Zulu Natal coastlines.

The Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (iSimangaliso) is a World Heritage Site which stretches up the east coast for more than 250 000 hectares and it encompasses wilderness areas of unsurpassed beauty as well as Lake St Lucia, home to the largest single hippo population in Africa. It is a world class eco-tourism destination and its beaches, ancient breeding grounds of the big sea turtles, are protected by some of the highest coastal dunes in the world.

Guided boat tours enable visitors to view hippos, crocodiles, go deep sea fishing and whale or turtle watching and learn about the mangrove ecosystems of the lake.

Further north, Sodwana Bay is one of South Africa's premier diving and sport-fishing venues. Dive the coral reefs at Sodwana Bay which are still well preserved because the waters are so clear and one has 15m - 20m visibility under water. Driving south you enter the realm of the legendary Zulu kings which are steeped in living Zulu tradition. Overnight at a Zulu Village for a cultural experience. KwaZulu-Natal is a magnet for thrill-seekers in the great outdoors - from wave riders to hang-gliders, and golfers to mountain bikers. You can see the year-round frolicking dolphins or encounter the Sardine Run. There are also many Big Five game reserves of international repute as well as the Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Game Park. The KwaZulu-Natal Midlands have history-filled towns leading to adventure sports and outlets for unique arts and crafts.Visit the Battlefields of yesteryear, where Zulu, Boer and British now make pilgrimages of reconciliation. Self-drive to the Battlefields by car on your own or let us organise a guided tour.

KwaZulu-Natal is very popular among visitors and increasingly on the "must-see, must-do" lists of discerning travelers. These travellers from all points of the globe seek and find a unique blend of cultural diversity and excitement in the most breathtaking setting imaginable.
