12 Days/11 nights on a Cape Town, Garden Route, Cape Town circular tour Day 1, 2 and 3 - Cape Town Arrive at Cape Town International Airport and collect your pre-booked car. At the same time collect your tour package which will guide you every step of the way, starting right now with a map to instruct you how to get to your first hotel or guest house establishment. Accommodation (3 nights): 4-star guest house. Enjoy your double sea facing room with spectacular views of Hout Bay and Sentinal Mountain.
Included in your tour package will be your Travel Manual with suggestions of what to do and where to go. As your planned tour ends in Stellenbosch, the Winelands are left for last. Day 4 Hermanus A beautiful scenic coastal drive brings you to Hermanus - one of the easiest and best places in the world for whale watching during the months July to October. You need not even go out to sea by boat, the whales come right up to the cliffs where concrete paths help you to get as close to them as possible. Accommodation (1 night): 4-star guest house with an African feel to it, just around the corner from the whale watching cliffs. See Travel Manual for things to do and places to go.
Day 5, 6 and 7 - Knysna Follow the highway to Knysna, centre of the Garden Route. Accommodation (3 nights): 4-star guest house, situated on Leisure Isle on the famous Knysna lagoon, facing the Heads. Your room overlooks the tidal lagoon which is ever changing. As the tide goes out, the entire area in front of the guest house turns into beach. When the tide returns, the beach turns into a safe swimming pool. Unsurpassed tranquility and famous breakfasts included.
Day 8 - Tsitsikamma Drive eastwards to the Tsitsikamma area where you will stay in a log cabin with large tranquil gardens, breakfast included. Make time to go down to the Tsitsikamma National Park - this is not a game park, but is situated at the Stormsriver Mouth Restcamp and has unsurpassed natural beauty, poised between a craggy shoreline of black rocks pounded by foamy white surf and steep forested cliffs
Day 9 - Wilderness Skimming past the now familiar towns of Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and George on your return trip, you now stop off at Wilderness where your guest house is situated right on the beach. Catch a glimpse of dolphins as you enjoy breakfast, stroll down to the beach or simply sit on the deck (or lie on your bed) and stare at the waves. Lovely nature walks in the area too.
Day 10 Oudtshoorn you have only a short drive to Oudtshoorn where you have enough time to visit the magnificent Cango Caves, an osterich show farm and perhaps the Cango Wildlife Ranch Accommodation is in a 4-star guesthouse. Enjoy the old world charm and beautiful garden as well as mingling with other guests in the evening over dinner or a "braai" (barbeque) presented by your host with typical South African hospitality Day 11 and 12 Stellenbosch Instead of driving back to Cape Town on the N2 highway, we suggest you use the scenic route, the R62, savouring the Little Karoo which has a beauty of its own. Gradually you move into mountain country and eventually arrive in the Winelands where you will overnight in Stellenbosch. Dappled avenues of three-century-old oaks reflect the nickname "Eikestad" - oak city. Enjoy wine tasting and/or meals at some of the wine estates. The atmoshphere. ambience, attention to detail and personal service makes this guest house, which is in town, very special.
You are only 35 km from Cape Town International Airport, and depending on the time of your flight back home, you can probably still spend your last day touring around the Winelands before going to the airport.
